OUR BIOLOGIST

Katja has been a „water baby“ from her young days. She took the first possible option to do her scuba diving certification. The first dives in the lake districts of Mecklenburg brought the passion for scuba diving.

PROFESSIONAL LEVEL WHILE STUDYING

The decision to study marine biology has been made from the bottom of her heart and brought Katja to the University of Rostock at the Baltic Sea. For her basic courses Katja completed biology and marine science as her main course. Katja had many hands-on excursions to the Baltic Sea as well as to the Mediterranean Sea as a fact of a cooperation with the Research Institute of Baltic Sea in Warnemunde (German abbreviation IOW). While studying Katja kept on working at diving centre Rostock and started her professional diver career exactly there.

During her holidays at the Red Sea where Katja worked as a dive guide she succumbed to the fascination of the coral reefs. Thus for her hands-on part of her degree dissertation she has chosen a place at the Red Sea and spent at the Bay of Aqaba on the Sinai-Peninsula four months. Her major point was based on the eco-balance of the coral reef – especially the soft corals. In 2006, Katja successfully graduated as chartered marine biologist.

DIVE INSTRUCTOR AND MARINE BIOLOGIST

Having graduated as marine biologist and successfully completed the PADI Dive Instructor Course Katja has been lucky to find a job at diving.DE giving her the possibility of combining both jobs. You can meet Katja at our diving.DE centres in Egypt several times a year and from time to time at diving Cres in Croatia too.
